As meteorologists made comparisons to storms past and non-essential staff kicked backed, Winter Storm Stella did what good old fashioned Northeast storms do best: she raged on.
The snow storm — the worst in a decade — has hit New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts hardest. Up to 30 inches of snow fell in the Southern Tier and counties throughout New York issued travel bans.
In Syracuse, Centro Bus issued schedule changes, school was cancelled and businesses closed early. Dozens of accidents were reported as the snow fell at a rate of two to three inches per hour and the wind gusts picked up.
And it’s not over yet: After Stella subsides, a lake effect storm will follow.
